How to Stay Healthier This Winter

With the news of scary health epidemics like, Coronavirus it’s important now more than ever to arm ourselves with the proper supplements to keep our bodies healthy. Here’s a list of items that I utilize everyday if not multiple times a day. They have helped me stay healthy especially while traveling on germy places like NYC subways, buses, planes etc. I hope you will find them useful in protecting your health this winter!

Vitamin C with Rosehips

Vitamin C is something that I take multiple times a day. It has so many benefits. It’s a powerful antioxidant that boosts immunity by helping your white blood cells work optimally. It helps to battle high blood pressure, reduce heart disease risk, protects against gout attacks, improves iron absorption, and reduces dementia risk. Vitamin C is water soluble so you don’t have to worry about taking too much of it because anything unused will get flushed out of your body with water.

Echinacea Goldenseal

I only take this supplement when I’m feeling run down as using it too often will lose its healing potency. It works so well because the Echinacea and Goldenseal work together fight infections within the body. Goldenseal has antimicrobial properties that help to regulate mucus production, aid with diarrhea and upset stomach, and is a natural diuretic meaning it will get rid of excess water weight within the body.

Some stores even sell just the powder from the root of the Goldenseal to sprinkle in open cuts for faster healing, and a few cosmetic company’s put it in makeup and lotions to reduce acne.

Apple Cider Vinegar

I personally drink a cup of warm water with a tablespoon of ACV on an empty stomach first thing every morning to help “get things moving”. It works like magic every time but there are so many benefits of ACV both internally and externally. I like to use it in my hair and face masks weekly but its great at warding off sickness because it kills many types of harmful bacteria, lowers blood sugar and diabetes, helps you lose weight and belly fat, and lowers cholesterol and improves heart health to name a few.

What To Do When Cold/Flu Symptoms Arise

As soon as your body starts giving you cues that it may becoming run down, follow these steps:

  • Immediately take one tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with a glass water. The ACV works to alkalinize your body to help kill unwanted bacteria and viruses in your body. If you can’t bear the taste or smell of ACV, then I’d recommend mixing a tablespoon in with your favorite tea with honey.

  • Take your multivitamin, another dose of Echinacea Goldenseal, Elderberry syrup, and at least 1000mg of Vitamin C. Make sure to drink a lot of water to flush out all the bad toxins which are making you sick out of your body. I personally find that drinking warm water is better than drinking ice cold water. Again, Vitamin C is water soluble so don’t worry about taking too much of it because anything unused will get flushed out of your body with the water.

  • Rest is best! Extra sleep coupled with the supplements above can knock out any sickness in your body when done quickly. Extra shut eye can help to boost the immune system. I’ve felt badly before, went to bed super early, followed the steps above and woke up the next day feeling no symptoms whatsoever.
